Bo was born on June 9, 1950, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to Louis Preston Tanner and Eleanor Tanner. From an early age, he displayed a deep loyalty to those he loved and a mischievous streak that brought both laughter and charm – traits that would come to define him throughout his life.
He graduated from the University of Missouri–Saint Louis with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In 1975, he married the love of his life, Vickie Simonetti, and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and shared adventure.
Bo’s professional path was as dynamic and wide-ranging as his interests. In the 1980s, he worked in the trucking industry and oil and gas before transitioning into a successful career in commercial real estate. He later served as Deputy Texas Land Commissioner at the Texas General Land Office.
A true jack of all trades, Bo could fix just about anything and was always ready to lend a hand. He found joy and peace in the outdoors, especially while hunting or saltwater fishing along the Texas coast or hanging out on the back porch at Lake Buchanan. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family – never missing a chance for a family meal, to support his children, or dote on his beloved grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as “Paca.”
Bo is survived by his daughter Natalie Dean and son-in-law Matthew Dean, his son Matt Tanner and daughter-in-law Stephanie Tanner, and his grandchildren Tanner and Charlotte Dean. He is also survived by his sister Anne Schirmer and his brother David Tanner, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss his loyalty, wit, and generous heart.
A funeral service to honor Bo’s life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, with a visitation at 10:30, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, located at 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. The service will be followed by a reception at the same location.
Bo leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and quiet strength. His memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and lives of all who knew him.
