Rita attended Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska and later joined the U.S. Army where she proudly served for seven years. After moving to the Austin, Texas area, Rita was a Resident Manager at
Austin State School where she was employed for over 6 years.
Rita was a faithful member of Sweet Home Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dante Wright until her health failed her.
Rita’s father preceded her in death. Those left to celebrate her life are: her mother, Lola M. Neal; her husband and love of her life, Samuel Goodlow; her son Tracy Allen (John & Shirley Allen); her daughter,
Princess Allen (Roney Wilson); her grandchildren, Tyra Allen, Armon Wilson, and Ashton Wilson; her sister, Carolyn Erwin (Ricky); her brothers, Otis King (Kitty), Malcom Neal Jr., Paul Neal and Joseph Neal
(Andrea); her goddaughter, Aericka Dixon (Reggie), and her children, Rayna and Aaron. Rita is also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of extended relatives and many dear friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas immediately followed by her funeral service at
11:00 a.m. in The Colonial Chapel of the funeral home.
Due to the current COVID protocols, guests are required to wear protective face masks at all times and practice the recommended six foot social distancing.
Honorary pallbearers are Roney Wilson, Armon Wilson, Ashton Wilson, and Reggie Dixon.
