A native of Harrisburg, PA, he moved to Texas after discharge from active duty with the Army Air Corps where he served as a bomber pilot during World War II, residing first in Dallas and the past 52 years in Austin with his wartime bride, Mildred Fite Cook, who preceded him in death.
Bob was a member of Tarrytown United Methodist Church, the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club of Austin, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his two daughters and son, Caryl Cook Schunk, Beverly (Cook) Hennig Taylor and husband George, and Gregory Alan Cook and wife Gretchen; 13 grandchildren - Grant Hennig, Aaron Cook, Stephanie Hennig Poliquin, Rachel Hennig Wiprud, Rachael Cook, Garrett, Garlen, Garrison, and Graham Hennig, Vincent Luchsinger, Laura Schunk, Matthew Luchsinger, and Gregory Hennig; and 28 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, at Tarrytown United Methodist Church with Lance Richards officiating.
