She was born in Seabrook, Texas to Frank and Alice Christy. Ruth married Cecil Bennett on November 17, 1945, and together they shared 70 years of marriage. She is survived by their two children, Mike Bennett of Buda and Kathy “Bennie” Dusenbury of Spicewood; her sister, Barbara Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Bennett; brother, Jim Christy; sister, Rosalie Lewellen; and son-in-law, Jeff Dusenbury.
One of Ruth’s greatest passions was working in her yard and growing flowers, which she greatly missed doing in her last few years. She loved working jigsaw puzzles, rarely missed ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and was very competitive when it came to playing Skip-Bo. She will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Staff of AccentCare Hospice.
A funeral service will be held for Ruth at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice.
