Stephanie JoLynn Salmon Deadmon, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt, died on Feb. 8, 2022, in Round Rock, at the age of 52. Stephanie was the second child born to Deanna and Steve Salmon in Midland, Texas, where she grew up and turned into a beautiful young woman. A graduate of Midland High School, Stephanie played oboe in the Bulldog Band and served as a drum major. She had a passion for dancing, including ballet and modern jazz, and worked as a dance instructor while in high school. After graduating from high school, Stephanie headed to Austin to continue her education. She graduated from the University of Texas in December 1991, earning a degree in marketing. At the time of her death, Stephanie worked as a senior corporate paralegal for Upland Software in Austin.
Stephanie met Derek Deadmon in Austin, and they married on Aug. 9, 2003, at the Barr Mansion. Their son Dylan was born on May 31, 2005.
An avid UT fan, Stephanie loved rooting for her beloved Horns and all things purple. Her son was the shining beacon of her life. She had the kindest most kindred soul and loved helping and supporting her family and friends when they needed it.
Stephanie especially loved children and animals. Some of her favorite activities were searching for Pokémon in the Round Rock area with Dylan and playing with her two young nephews. She served as a sponsor for Dylan’s Destination Imagination group, taking the youngsters to two state competitions. She also joined Dylan in working as a volunteer at the Williamson County Animal Shelter, where they walked dogs awaiting adoption. Prior to her volunteer work at the animal shelter, Stephanie assisted rescue organizations and fostered numerous dogs.
Her mother, Deanna, preceded Stephanie in death. Survivors include her husband and son, Derek and Dylan of Round Rock; father and stepmother, Steve and Mary Alice Salmon of Round Rock; mother and father in-law, Martha and Mack Deadmon of Austin; brother Barry Salmon and wife, Beth, of Lubbock; brother Tim Salmon and wife, Sarah, of Dallas; nephews Elliot and Fletcher of Dallas; brother-in-law and his wife, Dean and Shannon Deadmon of Bradenton, Florida; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2022 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas.
