Born August 5, 1941, in Shaw, Mississippi, Mr. Simmons was the son of Thomas Lavert Simmons and Annie Belle (Milican) Simmons. He was known and respected throughout the Austin area in the building trades and was associated with major construction projects throughout the area. He loves the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and his family was very dear to his heart.
Mr. Simmons is preceded in death by his parents; by one son, Wesley Clark Simmons in 2008; and by three brothers, Wayne Federal Simmons, Harold Waymond Simmons, and George Thomas Simmons, Sr.
Surviving him is his wife, Mary Helen Simmons; his son, Theron Christopher Simmons; a granddaughter, Jessica Ann Simmons; and two grandsons, Jayson Alan Steen and Christopher Orlando Robinson. He is also survived by three brothers: Marvin Clyde Simmons, Joseph Ray Simmons, and Richard Lee Simmons; by two sisters: Dorothy Ann Hollingsworth and Brenda Lou Phillips; and many other living relatives and dear friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral services will begin directly afterwards at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home followed by a committal service in Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be Jason Andress, Bobby Rampy, Hector Gonzalez, Mario Sandoval, Joshua Andress, Rich Crowley, and Mike Whitson. His son, Chris, and his brother-in-law. Johnnie Andress, will be honorary pallbearers.
