

Tom served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and attended Iowa State University. He spent his career in electronics advertising and technical writing at Collins Radio Company and Eagle Signal Controls. Tom was fortunate enough to retire at 55 and spend the rest of his years enjoying family, friends, volunteering and as a member and officer of several organizations such as the Jaguar Club of Austin, Friends of the Pflugerville Library, and All British Car Days.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother and father, and grandson, Tanner Arsenault. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, JoAnne Thornton of Pflugerville, son Todd Thornton of Durham, NC, son Carey Thornton and wife Marge of Minneapolis, MN, and daughter Amy Michalewicz and husband Joe of Hutto, TX. Grandkids: Cory, Jackie, Brynan, Asia, Jack, Madison, Cray, and Olivia. Tom had many other relatives and friends that will miss him as well. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Texas Oncology for their dedication and care over the past two years.
Services will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 on Tom’s 81st Birthday, at United Christian Church, 3500 West Parmer Lane at 4:00 pm, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of the United Christian Church or Friends of the Pflugerville Library. (PO Box 671 Pflugerville, TX 78660).
