Tomasa T LaFuente was born in Austin, TX, to parents Angelo Sr and Luz Trevino Tomasa: A child of God, sister, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is known for her strong will, strong heart, and strong hands. Her strong will helped her live a life trusting in God to help her make it. From taking care of her siblings to raising her kids, while being a single mother and making tough decisions. (She always used to say, “I worked like hell, and you will never know how to work like that”.) Her strong heart made her the woman we all know and love. She spoke truth, by telling us what we needed to hear, even if it wasn't what we wanted to hear. She was all tough love. Looking back, she was right because she had God in her heart. God was using her to raise us right.
She didn’t hug much, but she got our attention with those strong hands, if you know what I mean. Everyone spoke about her strong grip to the end.
Today her will is light. Her heart is full. Her hands are tender.
Tomasa leaves behind a legacy of love that includes her loving children, Erlinda Janie Hernandez, Ben Jr. and Norma Gonzales, Norma Jean and Joel Guajardo, Christina Alvarez DeLeon. She also leaves behind two living siblings: Brother Jesse Trevino and Sister Mary Angela Neel. Tomasa was the second oldest of the 11 siblings. Tomasa is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild. Her legacy will live on.
We love you Tomasita.
