To know Velia was to love her. She never met a stranger and always looked for the best in everyone she met. Velia was employed at the University of Texas for over 42 years. This is where she learned to love the University as well as the Texas Longhorns football organization, attending many home and away games. Hook’em!

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Manuel Adams Estrada; her daughters, Melissa (Missy)Silguero and husband David, and Jennifer Ruedas and husband Anthony; grandchildren, Cooper Estrada, Michael Ruedas, Anthony Ruedas, Justin Ruedas, Dylan Ruedas, Megan Silguero, Katie Silguero; great grandchildren Emma Ruedas and Gia Ruedas as well as sister Felipa (Pita) Castilla and brother Uvaldo Cantu.
