

Wayne Eric DeMoss, 66, of Austin, TX, passed away on January 19th, 2024. He was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, on April 15th, 1957. Wayne graduated from Austin Community College with an Associate degree in Criminology.
Wayne loved serving his country and community. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1983, after which he joined the Austin, TX. Police Department. Wayne rose through the department ranks, retiring at the rank of Commander. During his tenure with the Austin Police, he received the Captain Louie White Award from the NAACP for his service to the community and his work to ensure residents have excellent police protection.
Wayne had a passion for life, travel, hunting, and fishing. He was a man of faith in Jesus Christ and credited his faith with getting him through some of the toughest times of his life.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Thomas DeMoss, Sr.; mother, Margaret (Love) DeMoss; and older brother, Lewis Thomas DeMoss Jr. He is survived by his son Joshua (Melisha); granddaughter Layla; beloved sisters Darlene, Kealana, and Cassandra; Goddaughter Erika Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous close friends.
A celebration of life memorial service for Wayne will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas.
