

Rev. Billy Burke, 80, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
Billy was a 1949 graduate of Robstown High School, Baylor University in 1953, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1956 (He was the valedictorian of his graduating Seminary class.) and Luther Rice Seminary for his Doctorate of Ministry in 1976. Billy was the author of one book “Clouds Can Be Beautiful” and numerous magazine articles.
Billy was a passionate Baptist preacher who served churches over 55 years in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Ohio. He was an avid memorizer of Bible scriptures and was a master storyteller. He preached over 7,000 sermons, officiated 250 weddings, 350 funerals and most importantly over 700 baptisms.
Billy is survived by his wife Mary Ann of 60 years, children, Jerry (Lynne), Jan Sokol (Martin), Joel (Erin), Jeff (Julie), Wanda and 11 loving grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
Funeral services for Billy will be on at 3:30 PM, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Burton officiating.
