William “Bill” McKinley Gibson, Jr. of Austin, passed away on December 17, 2013. Bill was born on April 10, 1929 in Albany, Oklahoma and was raised and in an orphanage in Antlers, Oklahoma and was also raised in Paris, Texas. He graduated from Paris Junior College and attended The University of Texas at Austin. He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
In September 1950 he married Helen Patricia Barrett. While serving in the Air Force, he was stationed at Brooks Army Medical Center, BAMC during the Korean War. Bill worked for Travis County Sheriff’s office under T.O. Lang as an investigator. After working at the Sheriff’s office, he worked for the State Board of Insurance. He was selected to serve many times on the Travis County Grand Jury. Bill was a member of Lexington Masonic Lodge #138 in Lexington, Tx. He had served as Past Master. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite. Bill was an active member of the Texas Capital Area Law Enforcement Association where he was serving as Sergeant at Arms.
Leaving Bill to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Pat; sons, Galen (Trish) of Pflugerville, Gary (Beth) of Victoria, and Frank of Austin, and Mike (Tracy) of Round Rock; grandsons, Kevin Gibson, Blaine (Beth) Gibson, Brent Gibson, and Brett Gibson; granddaughters, Jennifer Gibson, Debbie Gibson, and Aaliyah Gibson; numerous great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
