

Reverend Willie James Taylor, Sr. passed away on June 8, 2015 in Austin, Texas at the age of 66. He was born to Earl and Mildred Taylor on December 27, 1948 in Austin, Texas and graduated from Old Austin High in 1967. Afterward he became a licensed minister in April of 1968 and also began his career of over 20 years with Southwestern Bell. Willie had a wonderful sense of humor and was devoted to helping others. He was very encouraging and supportive of others in finding their faith in Christ. This was never more evident than in his 13 years of serving as pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bastrop, Texas. Willie retired from work and pastoring due to illness.
Willie was preceded in death by his father, Earl Taylor and older brother, Alvin Taylor Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mildred Taylor; sons, Timothy and his wife Amy, and Willie Jr. and his wife Stephanie; sisters, Barbara and Peggy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandkids and friends.
Services to celebrate Willie’s life and home going will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 3326 Paisano Trail in Austin, Texas. Committal services will immediately follow at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
