Yolanda White, known as Nina to the family, was born January 23, 1962, in Austin, TX, to Katharine White-Williams who proceeded her in death. She departed her life on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
Nina professed Christ at an early age and was a faithful member and tither (Leviticus 27:30) of Grant AME Worship Center for over 45 years. She very seldom missed Sunday service or Wednesday night Bible Study. Nina loved reading the Bible and studying Bible history.
Nina attended the Austin Public Schools where she graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1980.
During her journey, she took several business courses which led to employment with the State of Texas and the Internal Revenue Service.
Nina was a dedicated and faithful employee, very seldom missing a day of work. She was employed full time by the State of Texas and part time with the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to her departure, she received an award from IRS for 25 Years of Outstanding Service.
Of all the things Nina loved and enjoyed, other than work, and watching the Dallas Cowboys, she loved her family the most. She enjoyed the smiles and laughter of others during birthdays and holidays. On Christmas she loved nothing more than seeing the gleam in someone’s eyes as they admired the gift, she bestowed upon them. Nina would give her last, ensuring a family member wouldn’t go without, knowing God would reward her for her blessings to others.
Those left to cherish Yolanda’s memories include sisters; Carolyn (Ace) Jenkins and Brenda White, brothers; Kevin White Sr. and Patrick (Latokey) White Sr. of Illinois; niece Kristal Armstrong; nephews Tony White, Kevin (Danielle) White Jr., Patrick White Jr. of North Carolina; several great/grand nieces and nephews Genesis White, Jeremiah Dokes, Abel White, and Za’Khai White; aunts Clarence Mae Stewart and Shirley (Curley) Alexander; and uncle Tommy (Joyce) White of Florida and a host of other relatives, coworkers, church members, and friends who all loved and respected her dearly.
A funeral service for Yolanda will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2024 in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, with the interment to immediately follow in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
