Abel J. Ponce

Abel was born on June 16, 1960 in Moyahua, Zacatecas, Mexico to parents Evarista & Ignacio Ponce.

He received his degree in Business Management and worked in the education industry for many years helping others achieve their education goals. Abel enjoyed golf, music, traveling and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers win! He had a very generous and giving spirit and was always there to lend a helping hand. His positivity was impenetrable, even through his illness, he knew how to make the bad days good. He will be most remembered for his loving devotion to his family and friends.

Abel is survived by his loving & devoted wife Shay Marie, daughter Avarista, sons Xavier & Alec; sisters Chuy Ramos, Raquel Miranda (Ernie Miranda), Maria Estrella (Francisco Estrella, Sr.), Patricia Brown (Ulysses Brown); Sister in law Tara Dawn (Votek Opalski); Nephews Mario Segura, Sr. (Raelon Segura), Michael & Daniel Miranda, Mario Jr. & Logan Segura, Francisco Estrella Jr., & Maximillian Opalski; nieces, Alexa Segura, Bella Brown, and Karina Opalski; granddaughters Nevaeh & Rya Ponce.

He is preceded in death by his mother Evarista Ponce, father Ignacio “Nacho” Ponce and brother in law Paul Ramos.

A celebration of Abel’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary.
