Alex you were a great story teller and I always loved your jokes.  You along with so many others made me feel so welcome at "Old" Greenway in 1982...  The best years of my entire teaching career!  Thanks Alex, you will be missed.

Alex taught math next door for many years. I'll never forget his humor and the baklava he shared every December. I have fond memories of him.

Mr. Skobes was a remarkable teacher!! He was a very close and dear friend of my Mother Connie Houser. She was his teacher aide for a very long time and just so happened to be a teacher aide when I was in his class. So..guess who got away with NOTHING in his class??? Kay Houser. I missed him for years and now that this time has come to let you know, your teaching stays with me still today. YOU made your students the grand people we are today!!

Alex and I started teaching the same year. For more than thirty years Alex was a teacher friend of mine. He will be missed.

To first my teacher, then my colleague, and my friend,  You were a wonderful teacher.  I learned a great deal from you.  As a colleague, you were always willing to help out.  You will be missed.

Alex Skoubes was a friend you could count on.  He always had a good joke to tell or a wise-cracking comment, he'd generously lend a helping hand, he didn't mind spending extra time when people needed it and he had a heart of gold. 

Alex taught school because he enjoyed teaching the kids and seeing them progress each year.  I was part of a teacher team which included Alex, Howard Kumlin and Bob Quay.  It was a good combination for the students and worked well for us.

Alex loved his family and many friends were lucky enough to be treated like family.  Holidays, family events and dinners had familiar faces and happy new ones.

Dogs and cats loved Alex and thrived under his kind care.

Alex loved the arts and had a gift for music.  he played the piano with flair, enjoyed the symphony and tended his home and yard as if they were art galleries.  

I knew Alex for 49 years and had first met him in 1965 when I began teaching at Larkspur school.  I was sent to Greenway to talk to "the man there who is in charge of the science fair, Mr. Skoubes."  Alex and I talked for awhile and although I don't remember much of the conversation, I do remember what he was wearing...a sweater vest, long-sleeved crisp shirt, pressed dress slacks and good looking shoes.  That Alex...he always was a sharp dresser!

Alex, you always made us feel so welcome in your home when visiting the Phoenix area and we enjoyed your company when you visited Paul here in Calgary. We are thankful for our most recent time with you in Chandler this past March, our luncheon and our walk around Sun Lakes will always be in our memory.
