Andrew Anthony Chiccarella, age 37, passed away on October 12, 2013 in Phoenix, AZ, after a valiant year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Andrew was born on August 3, 1976 in San Francisco, CA, the son of James Anthony Chiccarella and Joan Elinor Stettler. Andrew was always proud to say he was born and raised in San Francisco and thoroughly enjoyed all the culture and beauty “The City” has to offer.
Andrew graduated from School Of The Arts High School in San Francisco, CA and took many college courses, mainly from Phoenix College, AZ (where he later resided). Andrew excelled in the arts and was a talented drawer, painter, photographer and videographer. Andrew always had an eye for color, design, and beauty; an ear for music, pitch, and harmony; and a heart filled with love for God, family, friends, animals and nature. Andrew especially had a passion for live music and entertainment and attended hundreds of concerts, shows, and movies in his lifetime. He also played the guitar for many years and had a beautiful singing voice. Andrew was raised Presbyterian and was first a member of Lakeside Presbyterian & later a member of Orangewood Presbyterian. There was always a special place in Andrew’s heart for children and was a big-kid at heart himself. To share his love for children, and to re-create the joy he received in his youth group years, he enjoyed volunteering at Orangewood as a youth group leader. Andrew grew up as a Boy Scout (led by his father) and later became a member of DeMolay, Cal Chapter. Andrew had several jobs over the years in the retail and restaurant industry. He liked the fast-paced restaurant industry best; his most recent job was working at his sister’s restaurant, The Main Ingredient Ale House & Cafe. Andrew overcame many obstacles in his life and exhibited great strength and positivity during his journey; he was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Andrew was preceded in death by his angelic mother, Joan Chiccarella and followed in death by his loving cat, Tommy. He is survived by his beloved father, James Chiccarella, and his younger sister, Courtney (Matthew A.) Diamond; step-nephew, Matthew J. Diamond. He is also survived by his Great Aunt Lil Klenke, Uncle Richard (Pat) Chiccarella, many cousins and other extended family and friends.
