Ann R. Jones

Ann was the oldest of six children. Her father Harold served in the military and her mother Anne also worked, which meant she grew up quickly and became the one her siblings looked up to.

Being a military family they moved often—perhaps the beginning of her lifelong adventurous spirit.

At the age of 16 years old, Ann met her first husband, Marvin, a young handsome man who swept her off her feet. Independent and self-employed, he was a rare find at that time. They married and moved from Alabama to Winslow, AZ, in 1959. Wasting no time building a family, they had three boys by 1962.

After 13 years of marriage, they divorced in the early 1970’s. It was then she discovered her independence, and her life truly became her own.

She began working at the BVD plant and quickly advanced. Before long, she met and later married a wonderful man and great provider, Keith Jones.

By then, Ann knew exactly what she wanted. She went to cosmetology school, and soon after, “Ann’s Shear Dimensions” was born—quickly becoming the premier salon in town.

Always helping family and community, Ann became a pillar of Winslow.

They later moved to a beautiful ranch home outside of town—finally fulfilling her dream of land, horses, dogs, goats, and more. She rode in parades, appeared in commercials, and participated in team horseback riding. She never stopped moving, never stopped exploring, and never stopped dreaming.

Ann traveled the world and lived life on her own terms. Her 86 years were filled with challenges met with a smile, and with words of comfort and encouragement for everyone around her.

Her motto said it all: “Get up, rub some dirt on it, and get your dreams.”

Visitation will be held at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, Arizona, on May 28, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, and a Catered Reception from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, Arizona, on May 28, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
