Armand Israel Sandon

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cathy, brother Paul, sister Rosalie, sons Rick(Lynelle) and Don(Julie), grandchildren Tiffaney, Dana(Brion), Jon(Kari), Brian(Tara) and Brad(Candace), great-grandchildren Tristan, Shiloh, Lincoln, Jonathan, AJ, Miles and Jaymien, and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and one great-grandson, Cooper.

Armand was raised and attended school in Sunburst, MT. After graduating high school, he spent 3 years helping his dad on the family farm. He was drafted into the Army in 1951, and served in Korea until 1953. He then served in the Army reserve until 1959. After returning from Korea, he worked in numerous places and capacities in the oil fields for the next 39 years. He retired as a field foreman in 1992, and moved to Phoenix in 1995.

Armand married Cathy Dykstra in 1956. It was through Cathy that he heard the gospel, and he made his choice to serve God in 1957. He remained true to his vows, both to Cathy and to God, until the end.

Armand and Cathy had the joy of celebrating their 60th anniversary in Dec. 2016 with all of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When asked what the happiest moments in his life were, he answered, "When I married Cathy, when I made my choice to serve God, when my boys and grandchildren made their choice to serve God, and holding and being with the great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 9, 11am at the Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85022. He will be laid to rest with military honors at The National Memorial Cemetery or Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024 (entrance on Pinnacle Peak Road, east of Cave Creek Road).Arrangements under the direction of Shadow Mountain Mortuary, Phoenix, AZ.
