Arturo Lugo Contreras

Arturo Lugo Contreras, 79 years old from Phoenix, Arizona, was called home by his Lord and Savior on December 30, 2024. Arturo was born February 3, 1945, in Monterey, Nuevo Leon, MX to Jose and Francisca Contreras. He was the youngest of five children. His family migrated to the United States when he was very young. He spent his younger years in Boise, Idaho and eventually relocated to Arizona. Arturo spent most of his adult life in Avondale, Maricopa and Phoenix.

Arturo was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who cared deeply for his family. He was a well-respected counselor, mentor and community member for many years before retiring. His legacy of faith, service and unconditional love will continue inspiring those fortunate to have known him.

Arturo is survived by his wife Maria Gonzalez Contreras, his biological children Maria Cadena Contreras, Arturo Contreras Jr., Susan Contreras, George “Jorge” Contreras and Frances Contreras, his step-children Claudia Quintanilla, Laura (Robert) Varelas, Elizabeth (Max) Bransky, his sister Estela Alvarado and his brother Hector Contreras, along with 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death his parents, sisters Maria Chavez and Josefina Gomez, nephew Art Alvarado, Jr. and niece Angie Hernandez.

Please join us as we celebrate his life on Wednesday January 15, 2025 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary Serenity Chapel 719 N 27th Ave., Phoenix 85009 at 11:00 A.M., followed by his committal.
