Born on November 22, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, Barbara was the eldest daughter of Edward and Mildred Eveland. She was raised in Garden City, N.Y., where she lived a full and vibrant life. Barbara earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Connecticut in 1989.
Throughout her career, Barbara held various roles, including selling office supplies and furniture for State Office Supply, serving as an executive assistant to the CEO of Purdue Pharmaceutical, and ultimately retiring as the executive assistant for International Paper.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of playing golf, engaging in spirited bridge games, and cultivating a beautiful garden. After retiring to Anthem, Arizona with her husband Carl, she became a founding member of the Party-Niner’s ladies golf group. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Carl Benner, and their children, Melissa Siegel (Rich), and Jay Benner (Manami). She will also be deeply missed by her granddaughters, Emily and Abby Siegel; and her sister, Clare Meyer (Ed).
