Barbara Jean Marion

She was born in Fresno California and then moved to Michigan where her youngest sister was born. Then they moved to Arizona.

While living in Phoenix Arizona where she attended high school, Barbara met her first husband, Lowell Weldon Shires. They were married on July 21, 1961. They had three children: Donna, Sherri and Shannon. They divorced and Barbara remarried William Marion. They had a beautiful life together. They attended Bethel Pentecostal Church which she loved very much. Barbara LOVED watching TV. She could be found, 24/7, watching reruns of Jimmy Swaggart. She loved to sing and would always call her family members and sing Happy Birthday! She was also a huge Cowboys fan. She learned this passion from her sister Linda and her husband Lester who would always include her on game day. She was a Michigan, Wolverines fan TOO. That love came from the special times she shared those games with her son, Shannon, who was the true Wolverines fan.

She had a certain way about her. She loved the color Baby Blue. She liked to talk on the phone and catch up with her family. Her days were complete when she had her children come over and spend time with her. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays so she could see her family. Her favorite music was Christian music! She loved to hear the singers on the Jimmy Swaggert channel.

Barbara leaves behind her children Donna (Aaron) and Shannon (Lucy); sisters Mary and Linda; her brother Tom (Cathy); grandchildren Justin, Jeremy, Jeffrey, Joshua, Melissa, Amanda, Lucas, and Aiden; 12 great grandchildren and many close friends.

Barbara was greeted in Heaven by her daughter Sherri; parents Russell and Hazel; her brother Jack and sister Carol.

A "Celebration of Life" for Barbara will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services Maryvale Chapel, 6901 West Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85033.

Service to Start at 10:30 am, Officiating - Shannon Shires; followed by open sharing (please have your words written down for the family to keep, if possible); Visitation will take place during the service. Following will be a graveside service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 East Southern Ave, Phoenix, Arizona 85042.
