Betty Elaine Duke, nee Legler, born September 8th., 1928, died October 27th., 2025 at the age of 97. Betty was born in Lincoln Nebraska and met her best friend Dee when they worked @ Elgin watch company shortly after graduating high school. Upon a dare, she and Dee joined the Air Force where they each met their husbands and married. Dee and her husband Ken got out of the service but Betty(she had been "kicked out" due to getting pregnant as was the rules back then) and her husband Bill stayed in and lived a military life. They stayed in touch through the years and would travel to each others homes for Thanksgiving holidays when stationed near to the others home.
Betty was a seamstress and spent many hours sewing for her family as well as others. She also, later in life, started working for drapery businesses where she did the fancy work, as it was called. She finally retired in her 70's's. She enjoyed doing that work so it really wasn't a job. She volunteered for years at the Phoenix VA hospital and retired from that during the covid.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill and her daughter Chris and is survived by her daughters Jamie and Kathy and her grandson Jason. She lived a good, long life and she will be missed. Love you mom.
