

She was born on October 18, 1932 in Lost Creek, West Virginia. Carrie worked nearly 30 years before retiring from Motorola. She also enjoyed working at the Kivel Nursing Home in the activities area for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Cecilia Hefner, sister Vera Detwiler, daughter Ellen Thompson and grandson Jeremy Hughes. She is survived by her brother, Edward Hefner (Ft. Pierce, Florida), children, Nancy Hughes, Bill Hughes, Cathy (Brian) Baldwin, Mark (Mariana) Hughes, Lisa (Ramiro) Rodriguez, along with 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved with all her heart.
We will miss the way she embraced and loved her family and her ever-lasting smile.
Visitation will be held on December 30th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and funeral services on December 31st at 10:00 am. All services will be held at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Road in Phoenix, followed by a Celebration of Life in the reception area.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses, including those at Sun Valley Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to their mom. They all held a special place in her heart.
