

The family of David Weinberg sadly announces his passing on November 9, 2011 following a brief hospitalization in Phoenix. Dave was born in New Bremen Ohio on Feb. 15, 1927 to Robert and Bernice Weinberg, one of five children. As part of the greatest generation, Dave joined the US Navy on his 17th birthday in 1944, and was staged on the west coast preparing for the invasion of Japan when the war ended. The Navy again called Dave to service in 1950 and he served proudly in Korea as a signalman 3rd class aboard the USS Eldorado AGC-11. Dave was employed by Sears and Roebuck for 18 years, retiring from the Merced California store in 1970 and moving to Phoenix with wife Edith. Dave embarked on a second career with Ledbetter Dry Goods in Phoenix, retiring once again after 17 years. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Edith Weinberg, sister Shirley Schrolucke of Ohio as well as niece Linda Manson (Mark) of Phoenix and nephew Dale Sand (Angie) of d Prescott, along with many grand nieces/nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his son Ken Weinberg last June 13. Dave was a devoted Fly Fisherman who spent many family vacations dating to the early 60’s at the Sleepy Hollow in West Yellowstone MT hosted by Red and Marge Davis and later by Clayton Parmen. Dave enjoyed fishing the many rivers in and around Yellowstone Park with buddies Bob, Woody and Sandy. Dave was also an avid golfer, and expert woodworker. The family would also like to thank his long time friends Terry and Janice Mills of Phoenix and Woody and Brenda Wood of Prescott. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a later date.
