Dorothy Lorene Bennett, 96, devoted and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2021. She was born June 28, 1924, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Warren and Bessie Wilhite, she was the fourth child of five children. She graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1941. Dorothy married Joseph Dean Bennett in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple on November 10, 1944.
Dorothy was a master at getting things done and no project was too big to tackle. She will be remembered for her love of family, generosity, unselfish service to others, and kind spirit. She loved sewing and quilting, baking bread, singing, playing the piano, and she could whistle like no other. She loved shopping at Goodwill and at garage sales on Saturdays, always finding a treasure or two.
She was proud of her Arkansas heritage and she was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many ward and stake positions. She was very involved in every activity of her children; Scouting, Roadshows, the Gold and Green Ball, Dance and Music Festivals, Girl’s Camp, Sunshine Club, and ward fundraisers. She served as a Mesa Arizona Temple worker for several years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Dean Bennett (1997). She is survived by her five children; Joseph, Jr. (Carol), William (Pam), Fred (Leigh Ann), Trisha Shaw, Robert (Jeri). She is survived by 18 Grandchildren and 49 Great Grandchildren, who all loved and adored her. She was an example and inspiration to her family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Orangewood LDS Building, 4748 W. Orangewood Ave., Glendale, AZ. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., with the Memorial Service starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Glendale, AZ.
