Douglas Earl Garland

Douglas (Doug) E Garland, aged 61of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on May 13, after a long term illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Flores Garland; his son, Daniel (Sara) Garland: his stepsons, Manuel Nava and Ryan (Jocelyn) Nava; sisters-in-law, Elsa (Jesus) Obregon and Teresa (Benny) Primm; numerous nieces and nephews. Doug left his work as a skilled diesel mechanic after numerous stays in the hospital and finally had to stop work on his beloved race car. An avid fan of the Phoenix Raceway, he took pride in that he was able to get to know several well known race car drivers. Besides racing, Doug took great interest in building RC Warbirds and RC cars, as well as plastic model kits. A compassionate man, in spite of his own illness, together with his wife, Laura, he took joy in taking care of his mother-in-law, Maria, until her passing. Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. May he find the perfect garage at the next pit stop.
