Edgar Garcia, age 67, of Gilbert, Arizona, was surrounded by his loving family when he went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 2, 2018. He was born on August 5, 1951 to the late Manuel and Ana (Gonzalez) Garcia in New York City. Edgar attended James Monroe High School graduating class of 1969; then furthered his education at Bronx Community College. On November 1, 1969 he married Millie Nieves in New York City. He served in the army and upon discharge became a carpenter/glazier. He was a Glazier until his retirement in 2014. Edgar enjoyed fishing, playing computer games, carpentry, baseball, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving spouse of 48 years, Millie; two children, Steve (his wife Julie) Garcia and Shona Garcia; a brother, Luis Angel (his wife Denise) Garcia; three grandchildren, Jimmy (his wife Gabrielle) Garcia, Devyn Garcia, and Steven Garcia; great grandsons, Cylus Garcia and Luke Edgar Garcia; and many other loving family and friends. Edgar was preceded in death by his brother, Manuel Garcia Jr. Edgar was known for his kind heart, beautiful smile, and warm and loving demeanor. He always made sure that his family was taken care of at any cost. He will be loved always and forever. Memorial services will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at The Church in Phoenix, 17803 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85053. Committal service with Military Honors will be at 9:00 am on Monday, September 17, 2018 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edgar’s honor may be made to The Church in Phoenix.
