Edith Mary Stein

Edith Stein, 94, who was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and great aunt to many and friend to all, died on March 16, 2018. Edith was born on July 27, 1923 to John and Anna Ramler in Farming Township, Minnesota. She and her twin sister, were the 1st and 2nd of 7 children. She married Raymond Stein on August 7, 1948. They were married 47 years and six children, Marjorie Gerrity (Tom), John (Connie), Jim, Mike (Diane), Mary Jane (Honey) Barbier (Mike) and Robert (Diana). She 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was happiest surrounded by children. She never stopped having fun with all, to the point of having her 90th birthday party at a bounce play center. She took care of many children over the years, family and non-family, and was instrumental in providing a loving environment for them. She volunteered at St. Mary's food bank, donated blood regularly and for years worked as a volunteer at voting sites. She was preceeded in death by her husband Raymond, son John, twin sister, Dee (Hildegard), and siblings Marcy, Walter and Art. She is survived by her sister Irma Theisen (Vern), brother Buddy (Cyril) Ramler (Darlene), sisters-in law Alice (Art) Ramler, Marilynn Fargo (Jim), and siblings from another mother, Fran Frost and Jim Fargo. She is also survived by five remaining children and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Advantage Funeral Home, Maryvale Chapel, 6901 W, Indian School Rd. Phoenix, 85033 on Wednesday, March 21st from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The rosary will be at 7:30pm. A memorial mass will be held at Saint Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix, 85017 on Thursday, March 22nd at 10:00am with a celebration of her life immediately following. Edith was a devout Catholic and her favorite phrase was "God is in charge". She was the family matriarch and her absence is deeply felt by all who knew her.
