

Edwin Curtis Cooper, 71, passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, March 22, 2021. Ed was born in Bishop California but grew up in Arizona. He graduated from South Mountain High School in 1967. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. During his service he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Navy Commendation Metal for Valor. Ed’s career was in the construction industry as a residential house framer and eventually branched out to start his own company as a General Contractor in residential custom home building and remodeling.
Ed had a passion for his hobby as an open wheel dirt track race car driver and competed at Manzanita Speedway for many years, racing Super-Modified, Sprint and Mini-Sprint race cars. Earning a Championship in the Mini-Sprint division in 1990.
He loved the NASCAR races, hunting and being a soccer coach to several teams as part of the Gilbert Soccer Club Association that his children were also involved in.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Donald and Beth Cooper, and a Grandson; Gunner Moss.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia (Patti) Cooper and his three children and their spouses; Darin and Jennifer Cooper, Malinda and Nelson Moss, & Joshua and Crissy Cooper, along with 10 Grandchildren. Also, his brother Fred and his wife Jo Cooper, 3 sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, 2 nieces and 4 nephews.
Ed loved his family and friends without end and would do anything for them, he was our protector, our hero and we will miss him until we meet again in our heavenly home. Go rest high on that mountain, job well done Marine. Semper Fi.
Services will be held at Phoenix Memorial Park on April 6th 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
