Our beloved Elijah Walter Payton, affectionately known as “Eli,” was born on January 10, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Cherrelle M. Peoples. From the moment he arrived, Eli carried a light that could fill any room. He grew into a young man whose presence was felt long before he spoke through his smile, his energy he naturally shared with others.
Eli graduated from Verado High School and went on to earn his EPA certification in HVAC, a field he was proud to step into. He approached every opportunity with determination and a willingness to learn.
Anyone who knew Eli remembers his bubbly, joyful laugh, sense of humor and his loving, big-hearted nature. His kindness touched everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Always the first to offer help, Eli found joy in singing, dancing, making TikToks with his brother and sister, playing the guitar, and riding motorcycles. These passions weren’t just hobbies they were expressions of the vibrant soul he carried.
To his family and friends, Eli was a light. He was a devoted son, grandson, brother, and nephew whose love ran deep. His presence brought laughter, connection, and a sense of togetherness that will be missed beyond measure.
Eli leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother, Cherrelle Trent (Mark Trent); his brother, Tyree Spraggs; his sister, Trinity McIntosh; his maternal grandmother, Connie Jackson; his paternal grandmother, Pamela Payton; Freddie (Vaughn Freddie); two uncles, Alton Peoples and Alfred Peoples; and three aunts, Kanika Revels, Leslie Cambell, and Lenise Cambell. Each will forever hold close the stories, the laughter, and the love they shared with him.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Eli’s impact was immeasurable. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him, in the memories he created, and the joy he brought to every life he touched.
You will forever be in my heart.
