

Elizabeth was born March 10, 1927 in Willamantic, CT to Roderick and Blanche MacLean. She graduated from Searles High School in 1944, where she enjoyed being a part of drama club and acting in plays. After school Elizabeth worked for many companies including Monument Mills in Massachusetts, and New England Telephone and Telegraph. She was also an active church member at the First Congregational Church until 1951 when she married Mahlon E. Bailey of Voluntown, CT.
The couple moved to Syracuse, NY where Mahlon had a job with General Electric, after a year they were transferred to Utica, NY. In 1968 they moved to Phoenix, AZ with their six children Howell, Lugene, Daniel, Stephen, Robin and Todd. Elizabeth worked as a crossing guard for Washington School District for many years. During her many years in Arizona Elizabeth spent her time as wonderful mother and a caring and loving grandmother. She enjoyed hobbies such as knitting and watching her favorite sports team the Phoenix Suns and Her special lunches with Doug Bell. Elizabeth persevered through many life trials and never lost her brilliant and bright personality. She will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes her spectacular sense of humor and her overwhelming love for her family. She is survived by one brother and sister in law: Roderick and Olga MacLean of Pennsylvania and one sister in law Mariam Evans of Connecticut. She is survived by four children: Lugene Wright, Daniel, Stephen and Robin Hess, two sons in law: Christopher Hess and Bob Wright. Ten grandchildren: Jennifer Wu, Deborah Swann, Steven Lomax, Christopher Hess Jr., Elizabeth Alaniz, Michelle Reyes, Robert Hess, Christopher Bailey, Angela Bailey, and Denise Bailey. She was also survived by nine great grandchildren: Caitlin Wu, Brandon Wu, Carli Wu, Serena Mesa, Lyndsey Swann, Austin Hess, Abigail Hess, Achillies Hess, and Luciano Alaniz. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for many years and was a member of Serendipity bible study. Also she was a church deacon for six years. Memorial services will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Church by Tom Lineweaver, February 11th, 2013 at 11 o’clock. Gathering will be afterwards at the church. Burial will be at the National Veterans Cemetery, February 12th, 2013 at 12:30.
