Frederick Taylor “Fritz” Brunker, 93, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away in his sleep on March 12, 2015 at Rose Garden Assisted Living Home. Born October 12, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of the late Henry Brunker and Gertrude Wills. Fritz grew up in Kansas City during the depression and often told stories about school, his siblings, and how their family of six made ends meet during his childhood. He served in the Army Air Corp. from 1942-1946 and later moved to Arizona. Fritz was a long time resident of Scottsdale and married Dorothy Hartranft Kools in 1972. Fritz was an avid tennis player and could fix anything, both interests he developed as a young man. He worked as an electrician from 1949 until retirement in 1982. During this time Fritz and Dorothy kept busy with home improvements, travel, gardening, and caring for their grandsons. They also enjoyed mornings with the walkers at the neighborhood mall where they met many friends. Fritz is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and sons Doug and Bruce from a previous marriage. He is survived by his son Ken (Joy) Brunker, grandsons Jason Brunker, and Justin (Maren) Brunker. He is also survived by step-daughter Carrie (Tom) Abram, their sons Matt (Heather) Abram, Greg Abram, Will Abram, and four great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Blair Brunker, Allie and Sienna Abram. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, March 29th at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Rose Garden Assisted Living Home, (who lovingly cared for both Fritz and Dorothy), 9900 E. Redfield Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
