George Alvarez Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 29th, 2016 at the age of 54. George was born on July 31st, 1962 to George and Rosie Alvarez in Phoenix, Arizona. As a native Phoenician George graduated from Carl Hayden High School in 1980. He wore many hats during employment, but particularly had a love for cooking in restaurants alongside his father. George’s red chili was a family favorite and much requested recipe. In addition to cooking George enjoyed bowling, listening to music, cowboy movies, and spending time with family including his pets throughout his life. Above all else George enjoyed praying, attending church, and marveling at all of God’s wonders. Throughout his life George had undying faith and admiration for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was those passions that carried him through his trials and tribulations, led him to repent and become forgiven. George felt it was of great importance to pass along the word of God to his children so that they may lead their best lives spiritually. George was a genuine, humble, down to earth, God fearing man, who was loved and respected by many. He treated everyone well, like the saying goes, from the doorman to the CEO. His smile and laughter was contagious. It was George’s self-proclaimed mission to carry his cross to the best of his ability in order to get to heaven…in this his family is certain he has succeeded!! Therefore his family requests; please don’t be sorry, it’s a celebration!
Family, friends and others whose lives George has touched are invited to attend his memorial service at Saint Jerome Catholic Church of Phoenix; 10815 North 35th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85029 – Saturday, December 31st, 2016 at 10am. Alvarez III; sister Dannette (Greg) Saldano; sister Cynthia (Louie) Valenzuela; brother Carlos (Angela) Alvarez; brother Robert Alvarez; and many other relatives.
