Gilbert, today is April 30, if there was 31 days this month I would be adding this message tomorrow, so instead I am writing it today. It's now 11 months since you left us. I don't know what God has planned for my future but I guess I will in some point put my past in my past and trust in God whatever happens in the future it will be I. His hands. Like you said my work is still not done so I can't leave yet. I just hope I do whatever he wants me to do will be okay and it pleases him. I see Dora and Tiny on Wednesdays after they see Dickie. I still cook for them once or twice a week. They did say that whoever turns down my invitation to eat my food, doesn't know what they are missing and that they are grateful I cook for them. But most of all Patsy is very thankful I can relieve her stress by not having to think about cooking for Dora and Veto. I am glad your sisters' relationship with me has continued , and grown since your departure. Gotta go now will write you on May 31. Irene

Gilbert, today is Sunday the 14th, tomorrow will be ten and a half months since u left us for a better place. Last Wednesday Tiny & Dora treated me to lunch at Garcia's. I teased them cuz their plates were so clean the staff probably put them back on the shelf. Your sisters are so awesome! I speak with with Dora every day, I can't always reach Tiny, but she does return my call when she sees my number. You might be surprise to see the support I have gotten from my close friends, your sisters,Dickie, my brothers and their wives, I even have it as far as Minnesota! I still cook for Dora, Veto,Patsy,and Tiny. Patsy picks it up and delivers it to them. Cooking still keeps me sane, plus they are so appreciative and it relieves some of the stress off of Patsy. I look forward to seeing them on Wednesday as I don't get a lot of visitors. I can count on their visit when they aren't ill. Dickie writes to me, I told him to hang in there. Gilbert, went to Jason's wedding. It was very nice. We all sat together, Laura,John,Sarah,Jordan,Dan,Karen, Renie and myself. Steven and Marianne didn't make it. Gilbert, today is March 28, Monica called me to let me know that my cousin Armida passed away, here we go again, death is not taking a vacation.  First All's mom, now Armida. I hope we don't have another 2012! I guess that's all for now. Will write you on Sunday. Irene

Gilbert, today is March 18, had our taxes done, called Patsy, she is picking up dinner for Dora, Veto, and Tiny. Dora asked me why do I spend so much time cooking, my answer  was, so I don't go insane. Besides I love to cook for others, it makes me happy when I can share what I make. I decided that if the real estate market continues to climb (slowly), in a couple of years I am going to sell this house. I don't need this size house. Ricky is still looking for a job and hopefully he is settled so he too can move on with his life. I have some sinus problems hopefully it doesn't turn into something worse, I don't want to spend any more time in the hospital. I committed to attend Jason's wedding on the 31st of this month, expect to see John, Bob, and of course Mike plus their wives. First time since you left that I am attending a big gala. Steven says that Sweetie is so spoil but doesn't realize everyone that comes into my home is spoiled or even come to my front door and I will spoil you, that very same attribute that attracted me to you is still there. Pricilla and Logan came over for dinner, we celebrated Logan's birthday. It was very nice. Well gotta go Patsy is almost here. Irene

Gilbert, it's 10:30pm on Thursday March 14, 2013, an hour ago Al called to let me know that his Mom went to join her heavenly  Father. I assured him that she is with you and that the two of you are talking about him, he laughed. I told him how sorry I am to hear of his loss. And to hang in there cuz it's gonna be tough. Renie took me yesterday to see Dora, she is so sweet. We had a lot of fun with her, just talking and joking. I just love your sisters Mary, especially Dora and Tiny. Gilbert, today is March 12, tomorrow Renie and I will be meeting with Linda Miner for our yearly after Christmas luncheon. Gilbert, Patsy came over yesterday after work, I called her to stop by for Dora and Veto's dinner. She is so tired, I am glad I can help her by cooking dinner for them. Hi Tata, I miss you so much! I was thinking about you on my drive home yesterday, and how you used to say that if I ever needed you, that you would be "anywhere  in 15 minutes". You were the most important man in my life, and it hurts so bad to let you go. Since you've been gone the world feels different. I miss our talks, and your stories. I miss how proud you were of me even though I wasn't doing anything special. It broke my heart when you passed.  Please pray for me from heaven, so that my broken heart heals.

Gilbert, it has been 9 months, I still miss you, I guess I always will.! It is almost time for me to move on. Thank you for the good times we had together and for how we worked out the bad times. Gilbert today is Feb 10 , Pricilla's 29th Birthday, unfortunately she's going to spend this evening at her Nina Binky's (Selena Salazar) funeral wake. If you run into her in heaven give a hug from Pricilla and me. She was a beautiful and gentle soul. Oh yeah and correction Gabriel is gonna be 29 not 25 on Valentine Day. Gilbert, the other day your little bird friend came and brought you lunch, he didn't stay but later I noticed he had come back and either ate or took the lunch he brought you. I can only guess he will try again to treat you to lunch. Valentine day is almost here, besides it being Valentine day, its Gabriel's 25th birthday and the Looooopez wedding anniversary! I  miss you dearly. I keep myself busy with cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting,keeping in touch with Dickie, Dora, and Tiny. I made posole, gave some to Dora, Veto and Patsy, Veto made Dora call me and then he took the phone, I asked him "am I your hero?". He responded "you should move in with us!" Gilbert, today is January 30, tomorrow will be 8 months since you left us. Last week Aaliyah(Mohama) came over and asked "Where's Tata?". I was really surprised because she had never asked. This was our first Christmas without you. It was hard because I know you would have had so much fun watching Christina's kids open presents. Nana's tamales were awesome as usual.  I think Logan ate your share of the tamales lol. We miss you and love you!

Gilbert today is December 17, I had planned to go to the cemetery on Saturday the 15th but it rained so much, it was too wet , so Dan is going to take me one day this week. I love you forever, siempre yours Irene

Gilbert, today is December 15th, our 40th anniversary, I am sorry you are not physically here to celebrate with me. Today I will spend my time remembering how we celebrated our 39 years, sometimes having to celebrate in January because we didn't have the extra money to celebrate. It was our choice to wait so we could have a nice dinner. Then there was the time when we didn't celebrate, in 2008 my mother passed away on December 15th, in 2011 we didn't go out because  3 weeks prior I had returned from the nursing home after spending a week and a half in the hospital icu, then 6 weeks in the nursing home for rehab to learn to walk . You were already I'll and I know you held on and didn't leave until u knew I was OK. I miss you and will always love you forever,Siempre yours Irene

Gilbert you have now been gone 6 months. Christmas is just around the corner, got my tamales all made and frozen for Christmas Eve. Made my bread to give away like other years, also made my chocolate covered pretzels all in Christmas bags, most of the presents are wrapped, tree is up (got a new one) sweetie even put her ginger bread stuff toy under the tree. Ricky and I can't find  the outside Christmas lights. We will probably find them after Christmas! Dora and Tiny stopped by after they went to see Dickie. He has a good lawyer we expect he will be home any day now. I adopted him as my brother , I guess I can always use another instead of 5 I now have 6. He like everyone in the family misses you very much! I write to him. He writes very nice letters. I guess that's all for now, It is still very hard for me without you. Gilbert, today is November 22, Thanksgiving Day, It was pretty festive with Renie, Mike, Christina, Alex,Mohama,Mariane, Steven and even Stevie came home from New York. We celebrated Mohama's 2nd Birthday. I made her a small birthday heart cake. She wasn't gonna come to my house until Christina told her I made her a cake and we were gonna sing Happy Birthday to her. She said okay.Steve and Mariane got here late.So we relit the 2 candles and resang to her again. She opened her presents and the true fashion Diva she is she loved the clothes! Gilbert it's been 5 and a half months since you left us to be with God in paradise. Today I spoke with Annette, she sounded great! Thanksgiving is Thursday, you will be missed. Hopefully you are with us in spirit. The other day it rained, I found myself heading toward the bedroom to tell you that it was raining , expecting you to watch the rain with me with the front door open. I didn't open the door, no fun without you! Before you left, I told you we had our ups and downs but we had more UPS than DOWNS. You said yes. Gilbert, today is September 7, I don't know what happened to the message I sent you on the third of this month. As you already know I missed your 3rd month anniversary as I was in the hospital again, I am out now and hopefully I can stay out of the hospital for a longer time. Troubles again with Ricky, I wish you were here because I really need you and miss you terribly. Forgiveness was always your specialty something I am still trying to learn as I go ,hopefully before I am called to join you.

Gilbert, today is Tuesday August 14, 2012, Tom Martinez worked on the breezeway and carport ceiling, Dan helped Tom to keep the costs down. They even painted and took care of the damage on the east side of the house due to the hail storm damage in 2010.He even had the same paint color as our trim. It is awesome. I think you would like it. I am learning how to do the work you used to do, sometimes it's a little overwhelming but I learned from you, you were a great teacher! Steve put a new ADA approved toilet in the master bathroom, the old one had a crack in the tank. Like other years I suspect I will be done with my Christmas shopping by September. Christina has been helping me a lot. Ricky is improving one day at a time. I miss you so much and enduring the emptiness is very difficult especially at night when I am alone in the bedroom. Gilbert, last night August 4,2012, Christina came over and we prepared the items needed for menudo she wanted to learn so I showed her how. Today  is Sunday August 5,2012, Steven, Renie, Pricilla,,Ricky, Christina, Alex, little Alex, Celeste and Mohama came and had menudo for breakfast. The Lopezs, myself ,Ricky and Pricilla went to the cemetery to visit you and see your headstone. We first had a hard time finding you, Christina found you and we all gathered there , they took pictures. When we started to leave mohama said bye to you, she is so cute! Gilbert l have been helping Christina with school uniforms for Alex, Celestial,and Anthony. Anthony came and asked me if I am Rich. Gilbert, today July 31, 2012 is 2 months since you left us to be with God and his Angels. Being without you has not been easy, Christina came this morning , had coffee and raisin toast with me. Pricilla came this evening, she had a cheese crisp,corn dog and munched on potato chips and pace picante hot sauce. They are both wonderful young women. Gilbert, today is Sunday, July 15, yesterday was Mr. Loooopez birthday, Christina, Alex, Mohama and Star Bright came over to east oxtail soup and Christina bought him a cake. I gave him a fruit basket with the kind of goodies you liked, he loved it he said he could hardly wait to get home and sit in front of his TV and break into his basket. He and Christina are good for each other. He just has to deal with the lioness that she is. He'll survive! I also gave him a card with some money and gave him the rules about the money. He said OK. Monday was my birthday, Christina,Alex and the kids brought me a cake. Steve and Marianne bought me the same cake,funny huh! It was a good birthday. Gilbert, tomorrow,Thursday, July 5, will be 5 weeks since you went home to be with our heavenly father. Just wanted to let you know that Needie is in the hospital, the cyst on her kidney exploded. She is in ICU and has grave pain, her sister Becky and I pray she gets well but it's God's call. The other day your little bird friend came to visit you and brought you lunch so you coud eat with him, he waited by your chair outside the front door. I guess he got tired waiting for you so he ate by himself but he did leave you your lunch. He must really love you, just like the rest of US. We miss you so much, I expect you to walk through the hall and ask me "what's burning ?" And my answer is " your lunch or dinner". Or you walking back through the hall and making that funny shake of your butt. You always made us laugh and we enjoyed all your jokes funny or not. Ricky is still having a very hard time with you leaving us. He is very confused but still does not know how to grieve without asking for God's help. I hope and pray you continue to intercede in his life perhaps he needs to hear from you again.? Today has been 3 weeks since you went home to be with our heavenly father. Dora came over yesterday with Tiny and Mary. Dora was the only one who got off the car , she came for her gift from you, she really misses your phone calls. Today I found out that my cousin Bernie Sordia, she was the late Mary and late Rudy Pineda's daughter, passed away at 2 am.I was hoping God would  have .compassion on our family and not call anymore of our family home to paradise this soon. First, it was my Mom in 2008, Ralph Cruz 2011, my Dad in January 2012, you My Love in May 2012, and today Bernie in June 2012. I miss you so much. Ricky is doing good. You've been with me during some of the brightest and darkest times in my life, It saddens me to think I won't be seeing you on this earth. You loved life and everyone around you, that's what made you the special persone that you were.  When my daughter Adriana was going to be born my thought was I want an extraordinary man to be her Godfather......that's why I picked you.  Since Adriana was a little girl she used to get a kick out of seeing you wave at absolutely everyone that passed in front of your house.  Thank you for being a great uncle and an even greater Godfather to my daughter. 

Carlota really misses you and your daily phone calls. She regrets that she could not attend your services, she loves you and not a day goes by that she doesn't think of you.

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to Irene . . . you were a devote, loving, and caring wife to Gilbert, also to Irene, Jimmy, Steve, Mariane, and to Steven Jr. at the loss of his grandfather, as well as to the rest of the grandchildren, and great-grand children, and family, and friends.

In addition, I'd like to send my prayers to everyone in this difficult time, and I will continue to keep my thoughts with you.

My dearest Gilbert, today we had your service and internment. There were alot of your friends from Glendale, most I didn't know. Mike my brother spoke a great speech, he knew you so well and he is gonna miss you dearly. He shed tears for you. Mike, like you is a great asset to this world. He like you believes and has heartfelt faith in God. You looked so beautiful and at peace. Our home is gonna feel empty without you. I suppose I haven't fulfill God's plan for me yet, even though I had 2 close calls, God was not ready for either one of us, you took care of me, I had no problem taking care of you in your time of need. I wish you could have had those 2 extra years you asked God for. It was God's call, he didn't want you to suffer anymore. Remembering Gilbert and his Family with much happiness they were a big part of my life.

My deepest condolences to the Alday family.  Growing up with Gilbert across the street from my home gave me some great fond memories of a very giving and loving man.  My prayers are with you all.

I was so saddend to hear of Gilbert's passing.  He was such a kind and loveable soul to all that knew him.  Know that he will be missed by many.  May God Bless you and your Family.
