Gloria was the sixth oldest of eight children. Growing up she loved to immerse herself in family functions such as camping and family gatherings where she developed her quick wit, compassionate spirit, and infectious smile.
In 1993, Gloria graduated from Bostrom High School before beginning her work life at Jack in the Box and Peter Piper Pizza. During her early adult years, Gloria started working at Bank of America with her sisters Lucy and Diana. Moving on from Bank of America, she worked for the Arizona Department of Revenue until medically retiring in 2003.
After her work life ended, Gloria became an avid television, film, and book buff. She also enjoyed astrology, puzzles, and traveling as she loved to experience new destinations, foods, and cultures. But, most of all, Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family.
Gloria was incredibly unique as she was loved by both her birth family and the Verduzcos – her surrogate family - alike. In 1998, Gloria became Godmother to Trent Smyer, whom she adored as if he was her own son; sharing a special, loving bond that was uniquely their own. Gloria always kept a positive attitude and a smile on her face, even when facing difficulties in her life. Her winning spirit helped her to maintain strength and inner peace that never dulled the sparkle in her heart.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father (Gilberto Garza Sr.), her surrogate father (Johnny Verduzco Sr.), and her sister Lucinda Garza-Diaz. She is survived by her mother, Trinidad, her sisters – Korina, Jamie, Rubyann, and Raquel (Rocky); her brothers – Gilberto Jr. and Alfredo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is also survived by her surrogate mother, Carmen, sisters – Diana, Rosemary, Veronica (Roni), brothers – Johnny Jr., Augustine, and Godson – Trent, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Her memory and bright smile will live with us forever; forever in our hearts…
