

Herbert Ramirez, age 75, passed away after a brief illness on May 22, 2025, in Phoenix, AZ., surrounded by many close and extended family members. He was born March 3, 1950, in Corpus Christi, TX., to Gilberto and Maria (Vasquez) Ramirez, who preceded him in death. He is also predeceased by his brother Osvaldo “Ozzie” Ramirez.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Rita Ramirez. A loving father to sons Herbert, Jr. and Jason Ramirez, and cherished grandsons Mace and Luke Ramirez who all reside in Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his brothers Gilbert (Rebecca) Ramirez and Edmund (Dana) Ramirez, his special aunt Lupe Verdugo, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces who he loved greatly; they have many wonderful memories to share of him.
Herbert graduated from Kofa High School (Yuma, AZ) as part of the class of 1969. He joined the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Field Radio Operator with the 2nd LAAMB, 8th Marine Corps District-MCAS Yuma from 1972 through 1974 earning the rank of Lance Corporal. He served in the Reserves until 1978. His military service allowed him to use the GI Bill® to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in welding at Arizona Western College.
He retired from Hydro Extrusions, an aluminum supplier, as a die corrector. After retirement, he enjoyed going to the casino, watching the Steelers play, western movies, and a good buffet!
Pallbearers are Bencer Abraham, Alex Cabrera, Steve Cabrera, Eddie Macazan, Jr., Isaac Moreno, Gilbert Ramirez III, Edward Ramirez, and Christopher Torres. Honorary pallbearers are Gilbert Ramirez, II, Edmund Ramirez, Ernie Macazan, and Eddie Macazan.
A funeral service for Herbert will be held Friday, June 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 East Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ 85022. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
