Janis Lynn Woodbridge, 80, of Glendale, Arizona, passed away on April 18, 2026, due to complications following surgery. She was born on September 15, 1945, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Raymond C. and Mary Crabtree. She was raised in Phoenix, where she graduated from Phoenix Union High School, Class of 1963. On October 17, 1964, she married James Robert Woodbridge in Phoenix.
After high school, Janis pursued business studies and earned a certificate in 1965. She went on to work for several companies, including Catherine’s and Central Arizona Urologists. While working as a fashion consultant at Catherine’s, she especially enjoyed organizing and presenting a fashion show at Christown Mall. During this time, she formed many meaningful friendships, including one with a lifelong best friend.
Later, Janis began a career with Central Arizona Urologists, working with Dr. Arthur Fishman and, in later years, Dr. James Fishman. Throughout her time there, she took on many roles and became especially known for her exceptional skill and knowledge in medical billing. By the time she retired in 2025, she had developed a close bond with the Fishman family.
On October 26, 1966, Janis became a mother when she gave birth to her son, Travis Lee Woodbridge. She was a loving, dedicated mother who was deeply involved in her son’s life—from serving as a den mother for Cub Scouts in his early years, to cheering him on at sports games, to later guiding him through parenthood. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Janis was an extraordinary Meme, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, and a cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her free time, Janis enjoyed big family meals and gatherings, summer camping trips, and vacations to national parks, wine country, and California’s amusement parks. She loved attending Arizona Rattlers games with James and Travis, getting lost in her favorite murder mystery books and shows, going on shopping trips, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janis is survived by her son, Travis L. (Jenny R.); grandchildren, Amber L., Spencer J. (Kattie E.), and Kendra L. (Steven); and numerous great-grandchildren: Tyler J., Steven M., Conner L., Elizabeth A., Victoria L., Caleb L., Nicholas A., Anthony G., Brysen J., Nikola T., Adrian J., Jackson W., Jameson L., Amelia R., and Hazel. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Howard (Ito); nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Richie), Kathy (Kenneth), Teia (Jerry), Terry (Renee), Valerie (Corey), Sharon (Rocky), Carla (Dennis), Nyla, Pauline (Rob), and Michael (Chris); and her beloved pets, BamBam and Poppy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Woodbridge; grandson, Casey A.; her parents, Raymond C. and Mary Crabtree; brothers-in-law, David F. and Frank; and sisters-in-law, Oonalee J. and Darlene.
The family would like to thank the staff of Valleywise Health Medical Center, especially those in the ICU and palliative care teams, as well as all of Janis’s physicians, nurses, and caregivers for their compassionate care. They are also deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from friends and family during her time in the ICU.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Caris Sports Foundation, an Arizona-based organization that provides scholarships to help lower-income families access sports programs and equipment.
