

Jennie was born July 29, 1917 in Glen Lyon, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Newport Township High School. Shortly thereafter, she moved to New York City where she met her future husband and married in 1938. In 1949, Jennie moved with her husband to Phoenix, Arizona where she raised three children, worked part-time and attended Phoenix Community College. She was an active member of the St. Agnes Church Sodality.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Renault B. Catalano; her son Renault D. Catalano; 2 grandchildren, 4 sisters, 4 brothers; and her parents John Mendola and Rose (Billings) Mendola. She is survived by her son John A. Catalano and her daughter Rosanne (Catalano) Norstrom-Farence, 4 grandchildren (Renée, Jacque, Brian, Jennifer), and 5 great-grandchildren (Kiana, Athena, Jaylen, Cory, Aidan) as well as 1 step-grandson (Bill) and 5 step-great grandchildren (Mariah, Sierra, Tyler, Liam, Colin). She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed.
Jennie liked to read and write poetry. Many friends and family were the recipients of her poems that she wrote for them for special occasions. One of her poems was published in a book of poetry. Jennie learned to crochet in her later years and became quite proficient at making baby blankets and afghans for her family and friends.
Jennie will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and happy nature.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jennie Catalano will be held on June 14, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary Chapel at 719 N 27th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona.
