March 19, 1994 – August 12, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeremy Lee Shrum, 30, who left us way too soon. Jeremy was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend whose kind heart and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Born on March 19, 1994 in Glendale, Arizona, Jeremy was a bright and inquisitive kid, always full of energy and curiosity. He graduated from Barry Goldwater High School in 2012, where he enjoyed drama and the arts. Jeremy went on to earn his license in Cosmetology from Avalon Institute in 2014.
Jeremy was known for his ability to see the world differently, always showing love to others without judgement. Jeremy will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his willingness to help others, and his contagious laugh that could light up any room.
Despite the love and support of his family and friends, Jeremy struggled with mental health challenges, which he faced with courage and resilience. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the importance of mental health care and the need for compassion and understanding.
Jeremy is survived by his father, Russell Shrum, sister Vanassa Dobbs, nieces and nephew Ava, Elijah, Madison and Rileigh and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jeremy was preceded in death by his mother Billie Shrum and sister Mandy Maleport. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 5, 2024 at 6 p.m. at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel, 719 N 27th Ave, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jeremy’s name to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or a mental health organization of your choice.
Jeremy’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. They ask that you remember Jeremy for the joy he brought to the world, and that his struggle reminds us all to reach out to those in need.
