Joan Miller Hunting died December 14, 2021 at the age of 92. Born in Evanston, IL, she was the daughter of a Methodist minister and lived a life of faith and devotion to the church. She was a long time member of Church of the Beatitudes, sang in the choir for over 35 years, and supervised the children’s education program for many years.
Shortly after graduating from Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin, she married Robert A. Hunting and set about raising a family. Widowed at an early age, she overcame many obstacles to raise her four children. Her gentle and affectionate nature has been a profound influence on her grandchildren.
A lifelong Anglophile, she travelled to Great Britain many times and could recite Shakespeare and English history at length. She was thrilled when DNA testing revealed that she was ‘more British than the queen,’ and liked to brag that her four children turned out better than the queen’s!
Joan is predeceased by her husband Bob and daughter Katy Hunting. She is survived by her sons David (Brenda), Dan (Irene), and Mark (Melissa), seven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
