Julia Guajardo Gomez

She is preceded in her death by her husband Valentin V. Gomez, father Salomon Guajardo, Mother Pablita DeLeon, bother Natividad Gutierrez, bother Eustacio Gutierrez, brother Jose Gutierrez, sister Amalia Ramirez, and bother Juan Guajardo.

Julia is survived by her daughter Janie Tewksbury (George), son Valentin Gomez Jr. (Candy), daughter Julie Fishkind (Bryan), daughter Veronica Esposito (Mark), grandchildren Monica Thompson (Toby), Veronica Tewksbury-Haddock (Troy), Javier Tewksbury, Annaleez Fishkind, Julia Gomez, Christina Highly (Joe), Corrina Lewis (Nick), Robert Fraugoso Jr. (Blanca), 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Julia came to Arizona in 1957 with her husband Valentin and two small children seeking better opportunities. Julia was a homemaker dedicating her life to her family. Julia and her husband purchased their home in the community of Maryvale in 1958. It was their home for 30 years where they raised their four children.

Julia and Valentin enjoyed traveling around Arizona. Camping in Sedona, Red Rock Crossing was a favorite campground of the family every year for the 4th of July. In 1990 Julia moved to Happy Jack Arizona where she lived with her husband Valentin for 15 years. It was her dream home that her husband had promised to build her. A quiet place in the woods, a place to garden, fish, gather wood for the winter. Julia truly enjoyed the high-country watching wildlife in her own backyard. Julia and Valentin were married for 57 years. She was Valentin's caregiver until his death on March 21, 2012.

She was a devout catholic and a member of Saint Simon and Jude Church in Phoenix Arizona. She was a woman of great faith and always blessing her children with "Que Dios Te Bendiga". Even on her deathbed that was her final blessing. Julia was a loving mother, kind human being, and compassionate individual, who accepted all who knew her as Nana.

Julia was called home by her heavenly father. May you rest in peace Nana. God Bless.
