June Elizabeth Martin (nee Phillippi) went to heaven on Sept. 13, 2015. June, age 99, was born in Somerset, PA. She had 1 sister and 3 brothers who all preceded her in death.
June married Sydney Arthur Martin on her birthday in 1939 and together they raised 4 children, Cherie Schwindler (Bob), Sam Martin (Gail), Sandy Costantino, and Linda Hansen. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
June and Syd built a home in Bryn Mawr, PA, where they resided until Syd’s death in 1977. June then moved to Warrington, PA, until she fled the cold for sunny Arizona in 1994. For the past 10 years she lived with her daughter Sandy. Until she was 92 years of age she was an avid bowler and played water volley ball with a vengeance.
June was a remarkable woman – larger than life, adored by all. She lived her life with humor, integrity and strength.
Memorial service on 9/26/15 at 4:00 at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd, Phoenix, AZ, 85022. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wounded Warriors would be most appreciated.
