The North America M&R Billing and Recovery Team - Manila Office will surely miss "Boss Kim" (as he was fondly called). Despite the distance, Kim was always in full support of our team's endeavors through 11 years of ups and downs, never skipped a beat in making sure that the team is in great shape, doing well, and growing. Kim was a great mentor to all 15 of us, he may have taught us almost everything we know about M&R, armed us with useful and practical knowhows to find solutions to the most unfavorable situations. May you find peace and eternal happiness in the afterlife Boss Kim, we will miss you Sir, our prayers are with you.

I had the pleasure of working with Kim at APL in Scottsdale for four years.  Kim was always kind and eager to assist me in learning M&R.  My heartfelt condolences to his family, APL family and friends.  May he rest in peace and may you all find some comfort in the memories you share.  My deepest sympathy.

Kim was  always  there when  I had questions related with M&R. He would stop anything he was doing to give you advise or help you with any problems you might have.   I loved his laugh and I always though of him as a good friend.  He will be sorely missed, my deepest condolences go out to all his family.  

Kim was a good man, a great mentor and teacher, he was always eager to help someone learn and dedicated to his work and team. I wish that I had known him better away from the professional side of life, he was always friendly and encouraging. He will be sorely missed, my deepest condolences go out to all his family, friends, and colleagues, we will all miss him. 

Kim and I worked together at Berth 126 and T300 in the 1990's.  He was the most considerate, hard-working M&R Manager San Pedro could have hoped to have.  He and I went over the Walker Finance System Niagara Falls in a leaky water barrel.  Late one day Kim, Frank Moreno and I got our first look at the M&R balance sheet accounts in the new system.  There was a slight discrepancy of $14 million.  Kim and Frank's faces turned grey (I'm sure mine was, too).  We decided to go to a bar to figure out what to do.  I set a personal best for non-alcoholic beers that night.  One Kim comment I remember was, "I don't even know how to open a Swiss bank account".   We decided to call Corporate at 8 am and fall on the sword about the missing money.  Once the new system staff got brought in they quickly showed us how to work through the balance sheet screens and .....the discrepancy reduced to a fairly small amount.  I could always count on Kim and had hoped to get together one day and laugh about those days.  He made APL a better place to come to work.

I might not have the luxury to known Kim as long as some of our colleagues from APL; but for the ten years I've known Kim; I have to say the pleasure is all mine.  What a kind and gentle soul.  I still remember when I came into the industry in 2008; he had such enthusiasm to share with me about equipment and containers.  Thru the years working with him in Scottsdale, he always took every question I had into a mentoring opportunity.  Still have a copy of the restricted commodities list that he gave me; and I will not forget the things he's taught me.  I think the only time I got him mad was when I overstepped a M&R question at the waterfront, and I think for that, I will never make that mistake again ever!  But after the scolding, he immediately got back into his cheerful self.   You were a wonderful person to work with, and I will miss you good sir.  To fair winds and following seas where ever your next adventure lies Kim.

I have known Kim for 17 years.  Coming into the shipping industry and working at the waterfront was challenging, but Kim was always willing to teach and guide me through these years in everything.  He was my friend and brother.  We shared many stories together and he had some doozies that you just had to laugh at.  His smile was great to see.  He will be truly missed by many people as he touched many lives.  GOD rest his soul and bless him in the afterlife.  My most heartfelt condolences to his family, whom he loved very much.  May GOD's peace be with all of you.

I have known Kim since 2003 first in APL, then CMA, but always in the hallowed halls of M and R. Kim was so bright and had a great sense of humor. He put a fresh view on any problem that seemed insurmountable. He listened to explanations and added thoughtful comments or compliments.  He wasn't afraid to share his extensive knowledge and help those around him thrive.   He treated everyone equally from the shop floor to the top floor. Kim is just one of those really great guys that will be truly missed.
My thoughts are with Kim's family. 


I will miss our daily chats as we passed in the halls, and Kim's great smile he always told me this to shall pass when I looked stressed in the elevator as I left the office for the day.  My heart and prayers go out to the family as you are in my prayers.

I don’t even know where to start.  This hasn’t sink in very well for me.  I am deeply honored and blessed to have known Kim for 25 years. Over the years, our relationship developed from boss and employee to being my mentor. My passion for cooking has evolved because of this constructive criticisms, suggestions and ideas.  He was my constant ‘food-tester’ and I have enjoyed bringing variety of ‘Asian inspired food creations’ and I would like to think that I have converted his taste-buds to Asian cuisine as evident for this love of Thai, Japanese and Filipino food.  
I'm going to miss having him around to ask questions and get guidance.  I will never forget his kindness. May God give him eternal rest and the family the strength to bear the great pain.  May our Lord bless and comfort his family during this time of grief.

I worked with Kim for eight years.  I remember him as a kind man and always easy going.  If he didn't have an answer he would find one and he was always willing to lend a helping hand or to help educate.  He was always available when I needed him to help clarify something or just simple conversation.

To his family, I share my deepest condolences to you.  He will truly be missed!

I was so sorry to hear of Kim passing. Kim and I worked together at Southern Pacific and when I moved on to APL in San Pedro CA Kim joined me in the M&R department. 
Kim was very highly though of in the industry and was a great person with very high standards in life as well as his career. He was intelligent and highly respected by all.
