She had been in the care of Hospice of the Valley since she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March. She enjoyed 54 years of marriage to Lloyd, until his death in 2018. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend, being eternally optimistic and supportive in everything endeavored or endured.
Lesla worked as a bookkeeper, secretary, and legal secretary for most of her career. She served the Arizona Court System in Superior Court, the Court of Appeals, and the Arizona Supreme Court as well, retiring from there on the day as Lloyd in 1997. Her passion was serving others. At one time, Lesla was a girl scout leader, bowling league secretary, bowling league coach for kids, arts and crafts teacher for the Flagstaff Parks and Recreation dept., arts and crafts teacher for a Pain Management group, and co-queen of more than one Red Hat group. She was always making candles, and at one time ran a candle shop at Legend City Amusement Park. Lesla was always devoted to her church, as well, serving as Secretary or Treasurer on church council, Sunday School Teacher, Altar Guild, various committees, and AAL for Lutherans (now Thrivent). She was responsible for many newsletters and she filled in as church secretary on occasion also.
Lesla was preceded in death by her mother, Valeria and father Leslie Dalton, as well as one granddaughter, Rebecca Hamlin. She is survived by her sisters Waneta Scott (Paul) of Iowa, Mary Hoover of Texas, and brother Gail Dalton on Mesa, Arizona, sister-in-law Diana McCune of Wyoming, daughters Linda Colwell (Paul) of Phoenix, Arizona, Cathy Walker Martin (Dr. Chuck) of Illinois, grandson Eric Colwell (Melanie) of Phoenix, Arizona, granddaughters Corinne of Illinois, Brinna of Illinois, and Ellyse Basham (Michael) of Illinois, and many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the west and Midwest.
