Loren (Buz) Buz James Bemis

80, of Tempe, AZ, died Thursday, June 14, 2012. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 South Rural Road, Tempe, AZ 85282. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 South Rural Road, Tempe, AZ 85282, with burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1562 East Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ 85204.

Buz was preceded in death by his son, Scot, and his sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Ann; son Jeff and his wife, Amy; son Lance and his wife, Mary; daughter Beth and her husband, Joe; and daughter-in-law Melissa. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Justin, Brianna, Cody, Makenzie, Nicholas, Haleigh, Cade, Maximus and Mace; brothers Barry and Mike, and sisters Sharon Dobbins, Lois Wragge and Nancy Lozano.

Buz served in the U.S. Navy, graduated in engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and earned an MBA from Arizona State University. He was a long-time leader at Motorola and active participant in his church and his community, which included serving as Pop Warner coach and president for many years. Buz was a man of high integrity, deep faith and great devotion to his family. He considered his greatest accomplishments to be raising happy, successful and confident children and grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his leadership, character and compassion and for the many life lessons he taught his loved ones along the way. Buz will be missed by all who knew him.
