Margaret "Margie" Cunningham, age 96, passed away October 24th, 2018 in Glendale, AZ. Margie was born December 1, 1921 to Dan & Regina (Kitchel) Casar in Canton, Ohio. She was the oldest of nine children.
Margie graduated from McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio in 1940. Margie married William J. Cunningham. Margie's husband was an officer in the air force, which allowed them to travel to many places around the United States.
Margie had various jobs throughout the United States. When they were stationed in Bangor Maine, Margie managed a clothing store and put on fashion shows to show off all the newest fashions. After her husband died on July 14, 1973, she decided to take art classes at Glendale Community College. She also attended & graduated Phoenix Community College with an AA degree. Margie loved painting and was very artistic and creative in her home, as well as with any projects she took on in her life. Presentation was everything to her. When she left the house, her outfits always matched, makeup done & hair done.
She was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church for 45 years. She called Bingo for a care center which was affiliated with the church, across the street from the church for 15 years. She was also very active with the "Sages" of the church.
In 1972 Margie became a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA), a philanthropic, educational & social organization. She was president several times of her chapter as well as holding many officer positions and on many committees. Margie made a lot of new friends while donating many hours volunteering for various fundraising projects and charities.
Margie is survived by her two children, Mark (Vikki) Cunningham of Peoria, and Liz (Jerry) Montgomery of Glendale, her daughter in-law Kim Cunningham, her grandchildren Jenny Sutton and Jason Cunningham, her great granddaughters, Samantha Hernandez and Kristin Whipple, her three sisters Rosemarie Herrmann of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Diane Brandenburg of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Kathleen Ingram, of Surprise, Az. and two brothers John Casar of Stuart, Fl. and Donald (Rita) Casar of Dublin, Ohio. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Margie was also preceded in death by her brothers Daniel and Georgie Casar, her sister Tina Karlosky-Prince, her husband William Cunningham, her son Terry Cunningham, her grandson Terry Cunningham, her brother in-laws Peter Herrmann, Ron Brandenburg & Jerry Ingram. A Visitation will be held at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary 710 W. Bethany Home Rd Phoenix, AZ 85013 on November 5th, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church 6300 N. Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85012 on November 6th 2018 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
