Marjorie (Marchand) Linder Miles peacefully went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on December 12, 2023, at the age of 79. She was born on September 26th, 1944 in Oakland, California, the daughter of Leland and Hazel Smith Marchand, who both preceded her in death.
Marjorie was a 1962 graduate of San Leandro High School in San Leandro, CA where she was noted for her happy smile around campus, as well as her numerous accomplishments and activities. She served as the Head of the Song Girls, Secretary of the student body, Vice President of Thespian Society, as well as involvement in Pep Club, Class Board and Legislature. After high school, she attended college in San Francisco, before marrying John Linder. The newlyweds spent several years living abroad, before settling down in San Jose, CA to raise their family.
Marjorie was a very kind, generous, and confident woman who will be remembered for her loving and nurturing disposition as a mother, daughter, and sister. Of special note, she attentively cared for her mother Hazel during her final years until her passing. She devoted her life to Jesus, her Lord and Savior, and was generous in sharing her spiritual convictions to any and all who needed to hear an encouraging word. She invested many hours and resources in her church and enjoyed volunteering for various causes. She also enjoyed traveling around the country, as well as abroad, exploring her French roots. Marjorie relished puzzling and reading all sorts of literature, most especially The Holy Bible. She shared her mother’s lively sense of humor, and all will remember her high-pitched boisterous laugh.
Marjorie leaves behind three sons Jeffrey (Kathleen) Linder of Raleigh, NC, Matthew (Jill) Linder of Cave Creek, AZ, and Eric (Sarah) Linder of Dublin, OH. Also surviving are her four beloved grandsons, and two brothers Lynn (Annie) Marchand of Fortuna CA, and Roger Marchand of Clearlake Oaks, CA all of whom deeply loved her; her brother Monte Marchand preceded her in death.
A private memorial service will be held on Friday, February 2nd, 2024 at Phoenix Memorial Park, in Phoenix, Arizona. Flowers, gifts, or shared memories on behalf of Marjorie may be contributed through the Dignity Memorial online service.
