Martha Cordova

Martha nació el 29 de julio de 1944 en Moctezuma, Sonora, México, hija de Francisco Mungaray y Francisca Martínez. En sus primeros años en México, Martha cuidó amorosamente de sus padres. Tras su fallecimiento, emigró a Estados Unidos, viviendo brevemente en California antes de establecerse en Phoenix, Arizona, donde residiría en el mismo hogar querido durante casi 50 años.

Devota primero a la crianza de su familia, más tarde se unió al Distrito Escolar Isaac como Asistente de Cafetería, retirándose después de casi 20 años de servicio dedicado. También dedicó 35 años a la Peregrinación de la Virgen de la Candelaria en Moctezuma, Sonora, representando a los hijos ausentes en los Estados Unidos, compartiendo la fe como hijos de su patrona. Su profunda devoción espiritual y naturaleza generosa dejaron un legado duradero en la vida de muchos.

Martha fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres, Francisco y Francisca Mungaray Martínez; sus hermanas, Dolores Noriega Mungaray y Altagracia Garcia Mungaray; y su hermano, Francisco Mungaray Martínez. Le sobreviven una familia que la amó profundamente, incluyendo a su esposo de casi 56 años, Gilberto Córdova; sus tres hijas, Imelda, Vanessa (Arturo) y Zuleyca (Javier) Cordova; y sus cinco nietos, Tatyanna Alexys, Damián Misael, Gilberto Daniel, Adamaris Yaquelin y Omar Javier. Su legado de devoción, fe y amor por su familia perdurará en los corazones de todos los que la conocieron.

Maria Martha Mungaray Cordova, age 81, a beloved mother and cherished presence in Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Martha was born on July 29, 1944, in Moctezuma, Sonora, Mexico, to Francisco Mungaray and Francisca Martinez. In her early years in Mexico, Martha lovingly cared for her parents. Following their passing, she immigrated to the United States, briefly living in California before settling in Phoenix, Arizona, where she would reside in the same beloved home for nearly 50 years.

Devoted first to raising her family, she later joined the Isaac School District as a Cafeteria Aide, retiring after nearly 20 years of dedicated service. She also devoted 35 years to the Pilgrimage of the Virgen of Candelaria in Moctezuma, Sonora, representing those from her hometown living in the United States, united in faith as children of their patron saint. Her deep spiritual devotion and generous nature left a lasting legacy in the lives of many.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Francisca Mungaray Martinez; her sisters, Dolores Noriega Mungaray and Altagracia Garcia Mungaray, and her brother, Francisco Mungaray Martinez. She is survived by a family who loved her dearly, including her husband of nearly 56 years, Gilberto Cordova; her three daughters, Imelda, Vanessa (Arturo), and Zuleyca (Javier) Cordova; and her five grandchildren, Tatyanna Alexys, Damián Misael, Gilberto Daniel, Adamaris Yaquelin, and Omar Javier. Her legacy of devotion, faith, and love for her family will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.

· April 7th, 4:00–7:00 p.m. – Viewing at Greenwood Memory Lawn's Serenity Chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009, with the Rosary from 5:00–6:00 p.m.

· April 8th, 10:00 a.m. – Mass at St. William Catholic Church, 6807 W. Lower Buckeye Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85043, in the Santa Maria neighborhood, followed by burial at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 N. 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
