Michael served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970. He had basic training in Ft. Hood, TX and was then stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Huachuca, AZ. In the Army he was a Specialist 4 and majored in communication but also drove trucks and cooked as well. Michael did one year in combat and was awarded a purple heart for his bravery. He also received two overseas bars & was awarded for being a marksman with an M-14 & a sharpshooter with a M-16. He spent his last year of service in the Germany hospital because he needed to have medical attention and this was the best hospital around. Michael was 100% veteran and had a heart of gold, In his free time both before and after the military he loved to dance, fish, camp and loved arts and crafts.
Most of all Mike loved his grand daughter Aliah Elizabeth Pace who is now 3. Mike rededicated his life to the Lord when he was in his sixties. The burden of being in Vietnam weighed heavy on his heart and we know he wanted to make sure God forgave him for all that happened while he was at war. Mike was known for being a giver always putting others before him.
